Walkthrough
This is the level 55 quest involving Arios the Battered. Players must first be flagged by being present when Grundle dies, then follow Arios the Battered through several named encounters before repairing a sword with Grimm Brellhand.
Requirements
To become flagged for this quest, you must kill Grundle or be within range when Grundle dies.
Grundle is located in Geomancer's Citadel, but can also be reached from the Cyclops Fortress zone by finding the tunnel under the river.
Important: Try to remain in line of sight and close to Grundle when he dies. The exact range of the flag is unclear.
Note: It is rumored that logging off after Grundle dies may cause the flag to be lost. To be safe, do not log off before speaking with Arios the Battered.
Walkthrough
Step 1: Spawn Arios the Battered
After receiving the Grundle flag, travel along the road from Jared's Blight toward Highpass Hold.
When you reach the dual outpost guarded by two skeletons, Arios the Battered will spawn.
Speak with Arios the Battered. He tells you to travel to Box Canyon and seek out Pasha.
Note: If multiple players were flagged from Grundle, everyone should speak with Arios the Battered while he is up. Do not wait for him to despawn and attempt to respawn him again.
Step 2: Travel to Pasha's Chamber
Travel to Box Canyon (NE) and enter Pasha's chamber.
Invisibility is recommended while traveling through the area.
When you reach the chamber, a trigger will inform you that Skahyir is behind you.
Step 3: Defeat Skahyir
Defeat Skahyir.
Skahyir is not especially difficult to solo, but his breath attack can crit heavily.
After defeating Skahyir, return to Arios the Battered in Forkwatch.
Step 4: Receive the Bloodletter Targets
Speak with Arios the Battered in Forkwatch.
He gives you a list of enemies that must be defeated before Bloodletter can be spawned.
The required enemies are:
Step 5: Defeat Ealin The Mad
Travel to Takish Hiz and locate the entrance to Lord Chardith's lair.
Ealin The Mad spawns near this entrance.
Defeat Ealin The Mad and loot the required item.
Step 6: Defeat Rip Claw
Travel to The Hunt.
Rip Claw spawns in the hills with the Ancient Manticore mobs.
Defeat Rip Claw and loot the required item.
Step 7: Defeat Crocosaraus
Travel to Lake Noregard.
Crocosaraus spawns on the island in the middle of the lake. To spawn him, kill Tae Ew Hierophant mobs.
Crocosaraus usually spawns inside the crocodile-head rock formation.
Defeat Crocosaraus and loot the required item.
Step 8: Return to Arios the Battered
After defeating Ealin The Mad, Rip Claw, and Crocosaraus, return to Arios the Battered.
He sends you to the Isle of Dread to defeat Bloodletter.
Step 9: Spawn Bloodletter
Travel to the Isle of Dread.
After entering the zone, go left until you find a Garmaund Ritualist standing beside an altar.
Speak with the Garmaund Ritualist to spawn Bloodletter.
If Bloodletter is already up, he may still be killed for this step.
Important: The quest-spawned Bloodletter is stronger than the normal version.
Step 10: Defeat Bloodletter
Defeat Bloodletter and loot the sword.
Bloodletter can be killed with a small group if properly prepared. Useful resistances include Arcane Resistance, Fire Resistance, and Lightning Resistance.
Have the group hide behind a rock to avoid his area-of-effect attack when possible.
Important: Do not delete the sword looted from Bloodletter. It is needed later in this quest and is also required for the Arios the Battered 59 quest, where it is used to debuff the Anvil of Sarek.
Note: The random-spawn version of Bloodletter may not drop the sword unless the quest is logged.
Step 11: Return to Arios the Battered
Return to Arios the Battered after defeating Bloodletter.
He sends you to defeat two more enemies:
Step 12: Defeat Quintashi's Handmaiden
Travel to Abysmal Sea.
Quintashi's Handmaiden can be found in the deep ravines.
Defeat Quintashi's Handmaiden and loot the required item.
Step 13: Defeat the Giant Skeleton
Travel to Elephant Graveyard.
The Giant Skeleton roams throughout the zone.
Find and defeat the Giant Skeleton, then loot the required item.
Step 14: Speak with Grimm Brellhand
Return to Arios the Battered after defeating Quintashi's Handmaiden and the Giant Skeleton.
Arios the Battered sends you to Grimm Brellhand in Gramash Ruins to repair the sword.
Bring 15,000 Tunar to cover the repair cost.
Speak with Grimm Brellhand and have the sword repaired.
Important: Keep the repaired sword. It is needed during the Arios the Battered 59 quest to debuff the Anvil of Sarek.
Step 15: Return to Arios the Battered
Return to Arios the Battered with the repaired sword.
Speak with him to complete the quest and receive 56,000,000 XP and a class-specific reward.
