Walkthrough
This is the Rogue Exemplar quest. Players are tested through deception, panic, precision, and restraint before choosing between the path of the Laughing Knives or the path of the Quiet Blade.
Important: Players may only choose one path. Once a path is chosen, the decision cannot be undone.
Walkthrough
Step 1: Speak with Priest of Bristlebane
Speak with Priest of Bristlebane in Rivervale to begin the quest.
The Priest of Bristlebane sends you to seek someone who understands how fear and disorder can be turned into weapons without losing control of them.
Step 2: Speak with Rennik Vale
Travel to Castle Felstar and speak with Rennik Vale.
Rennik Vale explains that former members of the Laughing Knives have abandoned discipline and now spread fear without purpose.
He sends you west of Castle Felstar to hunt down the fallen members of the Laughing Knives.
Step 3: Collect Laughing Knife Sigils
Travel west from Castle Felstar and defeat Mountain Bandit mobs.
Collect the following quest items:
After collecting all six Laughing Knife Sigil items, return to Rennik Vale.
Step 4: Return to Rennik Vale
Return to Rennik Vale with the six Laughing Knife Sigil items.
After the turn-in, return to the Priest of Bristlebane in Rivervale.
Step 5: Return to Priest of Bristlebane
Return to Priest of Bristlebane.
The priest sends you to seek someone who understands patience, precision, and the unseen kill.
Step 6: Speak with Vaelis Duskryn
Travel to Temple of Light and speak with Vaelis Duskryn.
Vaelis Duskryn explains that former members of the Quiet Blade have lost their purpose and now kill with cold precision and no restraint.
He sends you south of Temple of Light to hunt them down.
Step 7: Collect Veiled Marks
Travel south from Temple of Light and defeat Desert Bandit mobs.
Collect the following quest items:
- Veiled Mark x6
After collecting all six Veiled Mark items, return to Vaelis Duskryn.
Step 8: Return to Vaelis Duskryn
Return to Vaelis Duskryn with the six Veiled Mark items.
After the turn-in, return to the Priest of Bristlebane.
Step 9: Choose Your Path
Return to Priest of Bristlebane in Rivervale.
At this point, you must choose one of two paths:
- The Laughing Knives
- The Quiet Blade
Important: This choice is permanent and cannot be undone.
Path One: The Laughing Knives
Step 10A: Choose The Laughing Knives
Choose the Laughing Knives path.
This path focuses on controlled chaos, fear, confusion, and overwhelming groups of enemies through disorder.
The Priest of Bristlebane sends you back to Rennik Vale.
Step 11A: Return to Rennik Vale
Return to Rennik Vale after choosing the Laughing Knives path.
He asks you to continue hunting former Laughing Knives and place their sigils into the Laughing Knife Cache beside him.
Step 12A: Earn The Laughing Knives Faction
Continue defeating Mountain Bandit mobs and collecting Laughing Knife Sigil items.
Turn in the required items at the Laughing Knife Cache.
Accepted turn-in item:
Each turn-in increases your standing with The Laughing Knives.
Continue turn-ins until you reach 2,000 faction with The Laughing Knives.
Step 13A: Return to Rennik Vale
After reaching 2,000 faction with The Laughing Knives, return to Rennik Vale.
He sends you back to the Priest of Bristlebane.
Step 14A: Claim the Laughing Knives Reward
Return to Priest of Bristlebane.
Completing this path unlocks the Cutthroat Frenzy reward through a Class Master.
Path Two: The Quiet Blade
Step 10B: Choose The Quiet Blade
Choose the Quiet Blade path.
This path focuses on patience, precision, restraint, and ending conflict before danger is fully understood.
The Priest of Bristlebane sends you back to Vaelis Duskryn.
Step 11B: Return to Vaelis Duskryn
Return to Vaelis Duskryn after choosing the Quiet Blade path.
He asks you to continue hunting former Quiet Blade members and place their Bloodstained Coins into the Quiet Blade Reliquary beside him.
Step 12B: Earn The Quiet Blade Faction
Continue defeating Desert Bandit mobs and collecting the required quest items.
Turn in the required items at the Quiet Blade Reliquary.
Accepted turn-in item:
Each turn-in increases your standing with The Quiet Blade.
Continue turn-ins until you reach 2,000 faction with The Quiet Blade.
Step 13B: Return to Vaelis Duskryn
After reaching 2,000 faction with The Quiet Blade, return to Vaelis Duskryn.
He sends you back to the Priest of Bristlebane.
Step 14B: Claim the Quiet Blade Reward
Return to Priest of Bristlebane.
Completing this path unlocks the Veiled Backstab reward through a Class Master.
Notes
- This quest is only available to Rogue players.
- Players must choose either the Laughing Knives path or the Quiet Blade path.
- Once chosen, the path cannot be changed.
- The Laughing Knives path requires 2,000 faction with The Laughing Knives.
- The Quiet Blade path requires 2,000 faction with The Quiet Blade.
